Our Services

What We Offer

01

Architecture

from £2,500

We take projects from early feasibility through to planning and construction, working closely with contractors so the drawings hold up on the real building. The result is a building that does what it was meant to do, without the compromises that creep in when nobody's watching the detail.

02

Interiors

from £1,800

This is where material choices get personal: a stair rail, a kitchen worktop, the way light falls across a hallway floor. We work room by room until the whole space feels considered rather than decorated.

03

Product Design

from £1,200

Sometimes the right piece of furniture or fitting doesn't exist yet, so we design and detail it specifically for the space it's going into. It takes longer than buying off a shelf, but nothing ends up looking like an afterthought.

04

Spatial Concepts

from £900

Before any of the above, we work out how a space should actually be used, sketching layouts and testing them against how people will really move through the building. It's the thinking stage that stops expensive changes happening later on site.

Projects delivered across the North

We started Atelier North as a small studio with one belief: a building or a room is only as good as its last fixing. We're still small, which means the people who sketch the first concept are the same people checking the joinery on site months later. We work across architecture, interiors, product design and spatial concepts, but the thread through all of it is material. We want to know how a surface will feel in ten years, not just how it renders now. Manchester's mix of old mills and new builds has taught us to look properly at what's already there before we add to it. Most of our work comes from people who've seen a finished space and asked who did the detailing.

Designer reviewing material samples and drawings at a studio desk

“They took a vague idea and turned it into a brand we're genuinely proud of. Every detail was considered.”

Rachel Okafor, Leeds

“Clear, calm and unbelievably good with type. Our print work has never looked sharper.”

Tom Beresford, Studio owner

“Working with Atelier North felt like a proper partnership, not a transaction.”

Questions

Common Questions

What kind of projects do you take on? +

We work on architecture, interiors, product design and spatial concepts, often for clients who need more than one of those at once. Projects range from single rooms to full buildings, and a good number start life as a mill conversion or an older Manchester building that needs careful handling.

Do you only work on buildings with existing character, like old mills? +

No. We enjoy that kind of project, but new builds get the same attention to material and detail. There's just no existing structure to respond to, so more of the character has to come from the design itself.

How involved will I be during the project? +

As involved as you want to be. Some clients want to see every drawing and sample, others prefer fewer, more considered check-ins. We shape the process around whichever suits you.

Who actually works on my project? +

Because we're a small team, the same people who develop the concept are the ones checking joinery and finishes on site later. Nothing gets handed to someone who wasn't there for the early decisions.

How do I start, and what does it cost? +

Every project begins with a conversation about what you need and what's realistic for the space and budget, before any formal proposal. Costs vary a lot depending on scope, so we'd rather talk it through properly than quote a figure that doesn't mean much yet.
